NAIDOC March

NAIDOC MARCH -Thaggo – (means walk in Taribelang Language)

The NAIDOC march is open to everyone and as we walk this signficant route to the destination of our Family Fun Day, you will feel the mood and experience the growing momentum. Our march begins at the round about on the corner of Bourbong and Tantitha Street and takes us along Bourbong Street to Maryborough Street across the old bridge to Lions Park over north. (behind Harry’s Mowers)

While much of our culture was decimated through settlement, our traditions and languages have been preserved by our Elders and handed down from their ancestors each generation until the present day. The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture has a rich and long history. It is an ancient culture… and it is still very much alive.

When you walk with us…you share in honouring our culture. Walking side by side with us shows respect to Australia’s first nation peoples…it’s a healing experience.
