Walara – FAMILY FUN DAY (Walara means corrobboree in Gooreng Gooreng language)
Luke Watson will again be the eemcee for this deadly day of fun and this event will see the community come together to celebrate “Our languages matter” in the biggest gathering of the week. Starting directly after the NAIDOC march with a smoking ceremony people can feel the cleansing effect that sets the mood for the fun day. Activities will incorporate traditional workshops in the creative fields of visual arts and performance and all will be heavily laden with local languages of the PCCC region. There are rides for the children and the tiny tots quest of course is a huge hit. Dance workshops, artefacts, face-painting and loads of entertainment for the whole family spread out across the day. Meet with freinds and yarn with Elders while you enjoy the fun on NAIDOC day.
