Deadly Choices Cultural Sports Day

Presented as part of the 2017 NAIDOC Celebrations, by the Bundaberg & District NAIDOC committee in partnership with Deadly Choices Qld, Bundaberg PCYC and Salvation Army. This event aims to bring families together through the re-enactments of sports and indigenous games that were once played by our ancestors, It’s a part of history that we would like to encourage and continue to pass down to our future generations to keep all elements of our culture active. This year we encourage the use of language to help facilitate the day, so the young ones can learn and hopefully maintain some words of the traditional tongues of the region.Located at the PCYC this year, there are some surprises as we include a few modified games and traditional sports equipment’s as we trial exciting new and different sports. Other activities will include health orientated items and check-ups and as well as some art orientated activity to keep encouraging our young budding artists. From children encouraged sports activity to whole of family participation…we encourage elders and historians to be a part of the day and also assist in enhancing the tribal language of the area. Lunch, Snacks and Drinks Provided, A healthy lunch, juice and water + fruit snacks will be provided. There is no need to RSVP just turn up on the day, bring a friend and join in the activities.
